quartile rankings

Quartile / Classement par quartile

Ranking system indicating how a mutual fund or individual security ranks relative to its peers. A first-quartile ranking means that the fund's performance is among the best 25%, or equivalently, that it outperformed 75% of its peers. A second-quartile ranking indicates that the fund ranks among the top 25% to 50% of its peers. Funds in these quartiles are considered superior to their peers. Funds in the lower quartiles include those that have underperformed their peers. It is difficult for a fund to consistently maintain a first-quartile ranking over a long period.
